ALIVE PARTY Ver.Growth Report: Shunichi Toki, Yoshitaka Yamaya, Daiki Yamashita & Junta Terashima Star in Growth's First Solo Event

TSUKINO TALENT PRODUCTION is a 2.5D entertainment agency that manages the units SOARA and Growth.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the ALIVE series, which follows their careers, the voice actors behind Growth—Shunichi Toki (Koki Eto), Yoshitaka Yamaya (Kensuke Yaegashi), Daiki Yamashita (Ryota Sakuraba), and Junta Terashima (Mamoru Fujimura)—came together for a special event: ALIVE PARTY Ver.Growth, held on May 31 (Sat) and June 1 (Sun), 2025, at the Sagamihara Civic Center.

Each day of the event featured a different setlist. The members of Growth mesmerized the crowd with their performance. Here’s a report on the May 31 (Sat) show.

The 10th anniversary stage began with a cappella!

Five years after the cancellation of their planned June 2020 solo event A.L.P Ver.Growth due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Growth made their long-awaited return, with fans flocking to the Sagamihara Civic Center.

As the venue lights dimmed, four silhouettes appeared in green light on the stage screen. An opening movie played, reflecting on Growth’s journey so far, and as images of sprouting seeds filled the screen, four a cappella voices echoed in the darkness.

As their unit song Super Nova began, dancers wearing scarves in Growth’s four signature colors—blue-grey, orange, pink, and purple—appeared on stage. Then, emerging from green-lit smoke, Shunichi Toki, Yoshitaka Yamaya, Daiki Yamashita, and Junta Terashima made their entrance, sending the audience into a roaring cheer.

Wearing costumes inspired by the event’s promotional art, the four men wove a delicate harmony. Their clear, heartfelt singing and shared glances deeply moved the audience.

Right after Super Nova, they immediately launched into Re:born. They put their backs together in pairs—Toki to Yamashita, and Yamaya to Terashima—and their four voices blended over the unconventional rhythm.

The four members’ expressive performances and vocal skills vividly brought Growth’s world to life without missing a beat, leaving some audience members so moved they froze, penlights in hand.

As the four men stood in center stage, a huge, shining green tree displayed behind them, and the song finally faded into silence. That final calm, lingering note sent warm emotions spreading deep in our hearts.

During the first stage banter section, it was touching to see the four express their happiness as they finally reunited with the fans who had been waiting for them. Speaking nostalgically about their prep meetings for the 2020 solo event, they shared how those original plans evolved into the performance before them today, prompting enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Among the audience were fans who had also attended 2015’s TSUKIPRO Festa at Laforet Harajuku and 2016’s TSUKIPRO LIVE in Nakano. The four men once again expressed their deep gratitude for reaching the 10th anniversary of the ALIVE series.

A dramatic reading tracing the path so far

Next, the actors put on a dramatic reading, depicting Growth getting excited about their first event in a while. Koki asked the crowd, "Are you having fun?" and, along with Kensuke, Ryota, and Mamoru, joyfully soaked in the warm sense of unity that filled the room.

The disappointment of their canceled solo concert five years ago made them cherish the joy of sharing music even more—and now, they reflected on how far their music had come. They seemed to have particularly fond memories of Shinyaku Rudder Qiana, with Ryota even saying it could be considered a culmination of Growth’s journey so far.

They didn’t leave out their non-musical activities either, touching on their agency’s joint stage play and more. Lately, they’ve also been taking on more individual activities: Koki worked on a magazine project, Kensuke appeared on a variety show, Ryota took part in more stage plays, and Mamoru was invited as a guest on a gardening show. They praised each other as they explained their activities. It turns out, Ryota had secretly bought a copy of the magazine with Koki's article. When Kensuke exposed this, the crowd erupted into laughter.

Amid the four’s cheerful and friendly banter, the conversation turned to behind-the-scenes stories from preparing for the live show. They recalled how the so-called "kickoff meeting" became surprisingly intense, and how moved they were by the staff’s deep understanding of Mamoru’s unique worldview. From there, the behind-the-scenes stories kept coming. Since this performance was also something of a “comeback,” they spent a lot of time agonizing over the setlist, holding countless meetings to get everything just right.

Ryota, whom the other three described as "dependable," had long been interested in the overall production of live shows and believed he could contribute to making the stage shine. With a big smile, he shared how much fun it was to see his ideas come to life.

Not to say that Ryota is the lone star of this show, of course. Koki pulled the team together as the leader, Kensuke shaped the choreography, and because everyone stepped up, Mamoru was able to dedicate extra attention to producing the audio—something he was deeply thankful for. There was also a heartwarming story about how Kensuke drove everyone to the venue for a site visit, and afterwards, they all went out and had a great time together, bringing smiles to the faces of the fans gathered at the event.

Solo songs that bridge the past and present - and a surprise new song!

As the event moved into its middle phase, they took turns performing their solo songs.

Ryota opened with Phantasmagoria from the ALIVE “Ano Koro no Bokura wa” series. Sitting casually in a chair with a cherry blossom twig in hand, Yamashita filled the air with clear, soaring notes that swept through the venue like a refreshing breeze. Throughout the performance, his expression revealed a deep affection for his fellow members.

A large tree blossomed on the screen, its branches bursting with vibrant, colorful flowers—and then Yamaya stepped onto the stage. He performed Kensuke’s Cosmo*Locomotor in a charming, playful voice. As he sang, Yamaya soaked in the moment, looking around the venue and closing his eyes occasionally. The audience was gently bathed in a warm orange light, reflecting Yamaya’s emotions.

Next up was Terashima, who passionately performed Mamoru’s Hitotsunagi no Monogatari. Holding a purple flower close to his chest, he softly delivered the sweeping, heartfelt melody. Paired with the music video playing on the stage screen, the performance conveyed a hopeful vision of Mamoru’s bright future.

The final performer to take the stage was Koki with Habatakeru Hikari. Terashima handed Toki a pale blue gerbera, which he held as he filled the air with pure, airy vocals that matched the fantastical melody. Soaring high notes drew the audience’s rapt attention. With each of the four solo performances, the crowd’s energy grew, and the venue became filled with a warm sense of unity.

After that, Toki, Yamaya, Yamashita and Terashima gathered back on stage. They exchanged satisfied smiles, reflecting on how their solo songs revealed their individual growth. They shared that though they were overwhelmed by the increasing difficulty of the songs each year, the sense of accomplishment they felt after delivering their performances on stage was truly special.

While taking in the moment and the lingering emotion of the day, the members shared their final messages. Yamaya surprised the crowd with a shocking revelation: the day of the performance was actually the first time all four had come together to sing. Despite their nerves and uncertainty, they beamed with bright smiles as they spoke about how much fun they had: a sight that truly lit up the stage.

Before performing the last two songs, Toki said: "I thought about leaving time for a few words after we finished singing.  But, honestly, I felt like these guys would say everything through the music. With that in mind, this time we're closing with a song."

Then, they surprised everyone with a new song: Souzou no Retro. This is a new version of Kuusou no Retro that represents the Growth of today. The melody, filled with both nostalgia and the feeling of a new beginning, had fans so moved that some couldn’t hold back their tears.

Carrying the momentum, the performance moved into its final number: Shinyaku Rudder Qiana. Holding bouquets in their hands, the four members gently and lovingly sang this self-remake of Rudder Qiana, reimagined by Growth as they are today.

After the four finished singing, the word “Fin” appeared on the stage screen. Then, like a symbol of Growth’s ongoing journey, sparkling new sprouts shone brightly. From start to finish, the event was deeply infused with their unique aesthetic.

The archived recording of this performance will be available for viewing until Sunday, June 8. Please enjoy ALIVE PARTY Ver.Growth as many times as you like!
