IDOLiSH7 Harmony Lounge: Rainbow City Arc Photo Report

In January 2026, the IDOLiSH7 collaboration cafe "IDOLiSH7 Harmony Lounge" opened at animate Cafe Ikebukuro No. 2 and animate Cafe Osaka Nippombashi!

This special collaboration will unfold in multiple themed installments throughout the year, inspired by the many stories and concepts surrounding the idols. The first installment, running from Thursday, January 8 to Sunday, February 15, centered on the "Rainbow City Arc," featuring a lineup of themed food, drinks, and in-cafe experiences.

Ahead of the grand opening, an animate reporter visited animate Cafe Ikebukuro No. 2 for an early preview, getting a first look at the interior decor as well as the collaboration menu items. From visually striking presentations to carefully crafted flavors, the cafe offers plenty to enjoy. We hope you enjoy this photo report from inside the "IDOLiSH7 Harmony Lounge."

Sixteen Idol Standee Panels Welcome Managers

As you step inside the cafe, you are welcomed by the idols dressed in their Rainbow City-inspired costumes. Seeing all 16 standee panels displayed together is an impressive sight.

One of the highlights is the freedom to enjoy the setting in your own way, whether that means taking selfies with the idols or staging pictures with your plushies and acrylic stands. The space invites managers to create their own special moments.

The tables are set with four different placemat designs, each highlighting one of the groups: IDOLiSH7, TRIGGER, Re:vale, and ŹOOĻ. The illustrations are original artworks created exclusively for animate Cafe, adding a special touch to the collaboration. The same exclusive visuals are also featured on select merchandise available in-store, making them a must-see for fans.

The walls are adorned with tapestries featuring the exclusive collaboration visuals, creating an elegant atmosphere where you can enjoy the presence of the idols from any seat in the cafe. The thoughtfully designed interior feels special and exciting, allowing you to enjoy your meal while fully immersing yourself in the world of IDOLiSH7.

Like Dining at Rainbow City: A Menu to See and Savor

Food

The food menu features two main dishes: "Rainbow City Cafe's Idol Pasta" and "Rainbow City Cafe's White Doria," both inspired by the cafe that appears in the series. Each dish lets you experience the atmosphere of Rainbow City Cafe in a delicious, tangible way.

The "Rainbow City Cafe's Idol Pasta" is a rich carbonara-style dish with a creamy, savory flavor. A star-shaped carrot adds a charming visual accent, while mushrooms and bacon round out the hearty toppings.

Finished with a sprinkle of coarsely ground black pepper, the pasta strikes a satisfying balance: indulgent in flavor, yet easy to enjoy until the very last bite.

Meanwhile, "Rainbow City Cafe's White Doria" is a comforting choice, perfect for the colder season. Fluffy rice is layered with creamy white sauce and cheese, then baked until the top is beautifully golden and lightly crisp.

The dish is finished with a decorative wafer printed with the Rainbow City logo.

Inside, you will find hearty chunks of chicken and broccoli, making it a satisfying and well-balanced dish. As you enjoy each bite, it is easy to imagine the idols sharing the same meal at Rainbow City Cafe, adding an extra layer of fun to the experience.

Dessert

The dessert menu features two items: “Round Griddled Things” and the “Rainbow City Jellyfish Mizu-manju Style Jelly Plate.”

Of the two, “Round Griddled Things” has been stealing the spotlight ever since it was announced, largely thanks to its hilariously vague name. In Japan, this classic sweet is famously known by different names depending on the region, most commonly imagawayaki in the Kanto area and obanyaki in Kansai. The friendly (and never-ending) name debate is practically part of the dessert’s identity. Rather than taking sides, however, this collaboration settles the matter by following Torao Mido’s lead and giving it a brand-new title for everyone to enjoy.

These bite-sized treats are easy to enjoy, with one filled with creamy custard and the other with smooth anko (sweet red bean paste). Served alongside them is a scoop of vanilla ice cream, which pairs beautifully, whether you prefer combining flavors in each bite or using it as a refreshing palate cleanser in between. The set also comes with roasted green tea, a thoughtful addition that makes it perfect for relaxing after indulging in the sweets.

Meanwhile, the “Rainbow City Jellyfish Mizu-manju Style Jelly Plate” drew delighted reactions the moment it arrived at the table. The gently jiggling mizu-manju, modeled after Rainbow City’s mascot, the Rainbow City Jellyfish, is almost too cute to eat, and definitely photo-worthy before you pick up your spoon.

The jelly itself is actually made of mizu-warabi-mochi, delicately tinted pale blue with syrup. Served alongside it are slices of shortcake and mixed berries, offering a delightful balance of sweetness and tartness. Together, they create a dessert plate that is as pleasing to the palate as it is to the eye.

Drinks

The drink menu features three options: “STARDOM GENIUS,” “Rainbow City,” and the “Rainbow City Jellyfish Float.”

“STARDOM GENIUS,” inspired by the group’s 10th anniversary song, is served in an elegant champagne glass adorned with a ribbon. The white-based drink is paired with clear lemon jelly, and the glass is filled with “glowing ice."

The way the illuminated ice casts shifting colors through the drink feels almost magical. When it happens to glow in your favorite idol’s signature color, the moment becomes even more special.

As its name suggests, “Rainbow City” is a drink inspired by the world of Rainbow City itself. The vibrant blue lychee base is accented with colorful jelly. With its light, refreshing flavor, the drink brings to mind clear blue skies and rainbows.

The “Rainbow City Jellyfish Float” is a delightfully indulgent drink made with pale blue ramune soda topped with a scoop of ramune ice cream. The ice cream, shaped to resemble the Rainbow City Jellyfish, makes an eye-catching centerpiece. As you scoop into it with your spoon, the lightly crunchy texture and the cool, refreshing sweetness spread across your palate, making it a fun and satisfying treat from the very first bite.

Each dish delivered on both taste and presentation, and the entire lineup was irresistibly photo-worthy!

This year-long collaboration cafe will also introduce special menu items themed around the idols’ birthdays. For example, Iori Izumi’s birthday drink was available from Sunday, January 25 to Saturday, January 31, while Yamato Nikaido’s birthday drink is being offered from Saturday, February 14 to Saturday, February 21.

In addition, guests who place an order will receive special bonuses, including complimentary coasters. There are two groups available (Group A: 7 random designs, Group B: 9 random designs), adding an extra element of excitement to each visit.

Exclusive Merch Showcasing the Collaboration Visuals

The merchandise corner inside the cafe offers a range of original goods featuring the exclusive collaboration visuals created for animate Cafe. The lineup includes fan-favorite items such as acrylic stands, stickers, and acrylic charms, perfect for commemorating your visit.

What’s more, special “Happy Birthday Boxes” will be available to celebrate each idol’s birthday.

During the birthday campaign period, guests will also receive one bromide featuring the birthday idol for every 2,000 yen (tax included) spent on food, drinks, and/or merchandise.

*Birthday Boxes will be available starting on the idol’s actual birthday. For details on which idol is currently being celebrated, please check the IDOLiSH7 Harmony Lounge official X account.
