20 years later, the Ultraman Max TV Series returns in HD for the very first time!
Originally airing in 2005, Ultraman Max celebrates its 20th anniversary with a stunning HD remaster. Created with the theme of "returning to the roots of the Ultraman series," this action-packed show follows the strongest and fastest Ultraman yet as he battles a roster of unique and unforgettable kaiju. Each episode delivers a self-contained, satisfying story: classic Ultraman entertainment at its best.
This is the very first HD release of Ultraman Max, offering sharper, more vibrant visuals than ever before. True to its Complete title, the set includes all 39 episodes from the original TV broadcast, plus, for the first time on home video, the rare TV-only special Special Finale ~ Ultra no Mirai e, which aired the week after the series finale.
Also included is an all-new highlights reel, Climax Stories, revisiting the characters from across the series, along with a full lineup of bonus materials originally released on DVD.
The package comes with two 24-page booklets: a series guidebook and the Ultraman Max Design Book, packed with design art from the show. This is the definitive edition for fans: an anniversary release truly worthy of the name "Complete."
■From Late Heisei Ultraman Era to First HD Remaster!
The Ultraman Max Complete Blu-ray Box marks the series' first HD remaster, with every episode upgraded to crisp, high-resolution visuals. Remastering from digital video sources, like the original material for this series, is far more challenging than working from analog film, due to inherent technical limitations.
To ensure that even digital-origin Tokusatsu productions can shine in HD, Tsuburaya Productions developed a specialized remastering process optimized for the genre. Since debuting this method with the Ultra-High Definition Remaster Edition of Ultraman Tiga in 2013, we have continued refining our techniques, building extensive expertise in bringing digital-era Ultraman to higher resolution.
This Ultraman Max remaster is the culmination of that experience. Even though the source was shot in 2005, each scene has been carefully reviewed with the original directing intent in mind, receiving multiple layers of fine-tuning to achieve a natural, detailed image that looks stunning in today's home viewing environments.
Experience the results for yourself with this Blu-ray box set: a showcase of the latest in Tsuburaya’s digital remastering craftsmanship
■The First Home Release in 20 Years, Now in True “Complete” Form!
For the first time since its original 2005 broadcast, Ultraman Max returns in a definitive edition worthy of the name "Complete." This Blu-ray set not only presents the entire 39-episode series in HD for the first time, but also includes the elusive "Special Finale ~ Ultra no Mirai e" (Episode 40), a TV-only epilogue episode making its home release debut.
Originally aired because an extra broadcast slot remained after the series finale, this special epilogue has long been treasured by fans and is now fully remastered in HD.
The set also features Climax Stories, a highlights reel revisiting every character from the series, along with the full range of bonus materials from past DVD editions, also remastered, making this a truly definitive box set for every Ultraman Max fan.
■Exclusive Bonus Booklets with New Cover Art by Hiroshi Maruyama!
This Complete Edition comes packaged with two special 24-page booklets: the Special Booklet, a detailed series guide, and the Ultraman Max Design Book, filled with design drawings of main characters, kaiju, mecha, and more. These design materials offer a deeper look into the worldbuilding of Ultraman Max, making them an invaluable resource for fans.
Both booklets feature brand-new cover illustrations created exclusively for this release by Hiroshi Maruyama, the acclaimed character designer for Ultraman Max and more.
