Singing is great... An Encounter with Kaworu at Space Galleria

From September 12 to October 13, 2025, "The Final Messenger: Kaworu Nagisa Exhibition" is open at the animate Ikebukuro Flagship Store’s 8th floor Space Galleria.

Celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Evangelion series, this exhibition shines the spotlight on one of its most beloved and enduring characters: Kaworu Nagisa.

This is the first time in about four years that Kaworu has been the focus of a dedicated event at animate, following the Wasshoi! Kaworu-kun Festival held in January 2021.

Visitors are welcomed by a newly recorded voice message from Kaworu’s actor, Akira Ishida, while clips of Kaworu’s memorable meeting and farewell with Shinji Ikari play on screen.

The exclusive audio is installed at both the entrance and the exit, as if Kaworu himself is guiding you “at the beginning and the end.” This special audio, only available here, will make your heart race.

Episode 24: "The Beginning and the End, or 'Knockin' on Heaven’s Door'" – Script, Key Animation, and Stills Trace Kaworu’s Journey

Kaworu Nagisa first appeared in Episode 24 of the Neon Genesis Evangelion TV anime, “The Beginning and the End, or ‘Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.’” Incredibly, the actual script from that episode is on display here: a truly rare and valuable piece for fans.

The surrounding walls draw you in, lined with stills from both Neon Genesis Evangelion and the Rebuild of Evangelion films. Iconic quotes accompany the images, while the delicate details of the drawings and expressions reveal the creators' passion.

From Statues to Collaboration Art: Immerse Yourself in Every Kind of Kaworu!

When you think of Kaworu, everyone has a slightly different image that comes to mind. This exhibition celebrates those “many Kaworus,” showcasing artwork from across the many media and collaborations over the years. From nostalgic illustrations to unique promotional pieces, the displays highlight just how diverse, and enduring, this character truly is.

The centerpiece is the much-talked-about 1/4 scale statue, unveiled here in advance. Its meticulous detail and commanding presence make it a must-see for fans. This advance display is exclusive to the Tokyo and Osaka venues, so don’t miss the chance to experience it up close.

Recreate That Scene! Photo Spot For Commemorative Snaps

In the latter half of the exhibition, there are some incredible photo spots. Among them is what may be the biggest highlight of all.

This standout spot lets you step right into the unforgettable scene from Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo, where Shinji and Kaworu sit and talk together on the bed. Every detail has been faithfully recreated: even the key item from the film, the S-DAT music player, rests between them.

Beyond this, guests will also find several other photo opportunities with Kaworu—perfect for capturing a one-of-a-kind memory!

Merchandise Corner: Bring Kaworu Home

At the exhibition exit, fans will find a merchandise area packed with commemorative items. Highlights include the sweater that went viral upon its reveal, a T-shirt, acrylic stands, and more, as well as unique fan-themed goods that capture the lively spirit of supporting your favorite character.

Don’t miss the chance to grab your favorite items and take a piece of your time with Kaworu home!
