From India to France...
After losing her parents during a long and arduous journey, Perrine, a young girl, arrives in the village of Maraucourt to visit her grandfather, her only remaining relative.
However, when she sees her grandfather's cold, stern face, Perrine loses the courage to tell him the truth.
Keeping the fact that she is his granddaughter a secret, Perrine decides to work at the factory he owns and eventually becomes his secretary, having earned his trust by virtue of her capable work ethic and personality.
